Theater and Film Debut
Starting his training with Broadway Bound BB in 2008 at the age of 6, Beres made his theatrical debut in the adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' in 2012. Moving onto film, he featured in 'Matt's Chance,' which won the award for Best Comedy at the Houston WorldFest 2013, and 'Touching the Wind,' which garnered the Best Theatrical Family Film for Children award.
Acting Career
In 2014, Beres played Johnny Keating, the son of an Irish immigrant family, in 'Town 57' at the Odyssey Theatre. He secured more film roles in 'Strange Nature,' 'Flu Girl,' and 'Stephanie.' He also performed as Sam Wheeler, the 14-year-old protagonist in the Oscar-nominated short film 'Balloon,' who discovers he has superpowers just as he becomes the target of bullying.
PEN15
Beres's popularity soared with his role as the cool kid, Brandt, in Hulu's original comedy series PEN15. The series won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series twice: first in 2019 for the first season's ninth episode titled 'Anna Ishii-Peters,' and again in 2021 for the second season's sixth episode titled 'Play.'
