Jonah Beres Biography

Theater and Film Debut
Starting his training in Broadway Bound BB in 2008 at the age of 6, Beres made his theatrical debut in Charles Dickens's novel adaptation “A Christmas Carol” in 2012. Moving into film, he appeared in “Matt’s Chance,” which won Best Comedy at the Houston WorldFest 2013, and “Different Drummers,” which won Best Theatrical Film for Family Children.


Acting Career
In 2014, Beres portrayed Johnny Keating, the son of an Irish immigrant family, in "Clocktown 57" at Odyssey Theatre. He received further film roles in "Strange Nature," "Girl Flu," and "Stephanie." He also played Sam Wheeler, the 14-year-old protagonist in the Oscar-nominated short film "Balloon," who discovers he has superpowers right at the moment he becomes the target of bullying.


PEN15
Beres's popularity rose with his role as the cool kid, Brandt, in Hulu's original comedy series PEN15. The series received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series twice: first in 2019 for the ninth episode of the first season titled "Anna Ishii-Peters," and another in 2021 for the sixth episode of the second season titled "Play."


Personal Life
Beres is open about his life on Instagram, sharing what he likes and cares about without captions so people can get an authentic glimpse. A frequent visitor of flea markets, he owns a Depop clothing store and has a unique dressing style. He's also a film and music buff, keeping a DVD collection of hard-to-find avant-garde movies and many physical records from many genres of music.
