Leaked Sex Tape
At 27 years old, Kim's life changed dramatically when a sex tape featuring her and her ex-boyfriend Ray J was leaked without her consent. Kim filed a lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment, who was distributing the tape under the name "Kim Kardashian Superstar" and a few months later dropped the suit for $5 million. Kim and her family took advantage of the increased media attention and channeled it to their Reality TV Show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Premiered in 2007, Keeping Up with the Kardashians attracted a lot of attention and criticism, and has since then received Teen Choice Awards consecutively from 2010 to 2014, and 2016, and E! People's Choice Awards from 2018 to 2020. In 2018, Kim Kardashian played a pivotal role in the release of Alice Marie Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender who served a life sentence. In 2019, she funded the 90 Days to Freedom campaign to release nonviolent drug offenders from a life sentence. The campaign succeeded in the release of 17 people.
Law study and Activism
In 2019, Kim started studying the law. She failed her first three attempts at passing the "baby bar" law exam but succeeded in her fourth attempt. In 2021, together with the English soccer club Leeds United FC and Rabbi Moshe Margertten, she helped finance the female Afghan soccer players to escape the Taliban and land safely in England.
