Felix Baumgartner Biography
Beginnings
From an early age, Felix Baumgartner was drawn to the thrill of the skies. He began his adventure by joining the Austrian military's parachute demonstration team, refining his skydiving skills.
Breaking Records
In 1997, Felix Baumgartner became the world champion for BASE jumping, setting the stage for a series of groundbreaking accomplishments. He made history with the highest parachute jump from a building, leaping from the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Baumgartner skydived across the English Channel in 2003 with a carbon fiber wing, and became the first person to BASE jump from the Turning Torso building in Malmö, Sweden in 2006.
Red Bull Stratos and Fearless Stratosphere Jump
Baumgartner partnered with Red Bull for the Red Bull Stratos project, aiming to achieve the highest skydive ever attempted. After facing personal challenges and overcoming his fear of claustrophobia, he made history on October 14, 2012, by becoming the first to break the sound barrier in freefall.
Humanitarian Efforts
Beyond his daredevil stunts, Baumgartner participated in various races and advocacy efforts. He extended his influence by advocating for the Wings For Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation and developing his own humanitarian project, FLY 4 LIFE.
Continued Aviation
Today, Baumgartner continues to pursue his passion for aviation as a commercial helicopter pilot. He aspires to become a rescue pilot, utilizing his skills for mountain rescues and firefighting efforts.
