Born on October 6, 2000, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Rae started competitive dancing at six. In July 2019, after discovering TikTok, Rae began sharing her dance videos on the platform. Reaching a million followers within a few months, she dropped out of Louisiana State University in November of the same year to pursue social media full-time. She joined the TikTok collective, The Hype House. In August 2020, Forbes named her the highest-earning TikToker, earning over $5 million in one year.
Podcasts and Singles
In 2020, Rae launched the "Mama Knows Best" podcast with her mother, renamed in 2021 to “That Was Fun? With Addison & Sherry,” giving listeners a look into their private lives, discussing relationships, drama, fashion, and music. In 2021, she cofounded Item Beauty with Madly Collective as Chief Innovation Officer, producing makeup with cruelty-free and clean ingredients. That same year, she released her debut single “Obsessed” peaking at 10 on the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100, and followed it with the EP “AR,” which debuted at 19 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Albums.
Acting Career
Addison Rae had her debut role as Padgett Sawyer in Netflix’s original film “He’s All That” in 2021, a gender swap retake on 1999's original film “She’s All That.” Praised for her natural charm, in 2023, she starred as Gabby in "Thanksgiving," a thriller about a murderer terrorizing Plymouth, Massachusetts on thanksgivings. As of 2024, she's announced to lead a role in "Animal Friends."
